MPR was recently engaged to resolve a long-standing water ingress issue at a property on Princess Street, Port Melbourne — a problem that has persisted since the building’s completion around 1995.
The scope of work involves the removal of approximately 120m² of terrace tiling and screed to allow for the installation of a new waterproof membrane system. Once complete, the area will be re-screeded and re-tiled, restoring both function and aesthetic appeal.
What made this project particularly unique was the access challenge. With no conventional means of reaching the top-level terrace, our team devised an innovative solution: the construction of a scaffold tower from street level, leading to a custom-built bridge spanning the entrance and connecting to the terrace above.
While the design certainly caught the attention of the local council, we secured the necessary approvals and are now well underway. It’s another example of MPR’s ability to think creatively and deliver solutions in complex environments.
